Income distribution is extremely skewed in Nigeria, with approximately 60% of the population living in poverty.

The government is attempting to restructure the economy while dealing with rising ethnic and religious tensions within this very diverse country.

Malaria in Nigeria

Nigeria accounts for one-quarter of all malaria cases in Africa.

Transmission occurs throughout much of the country. Prevention and interventions against malaria have been low, leaving Africa’s largest population at risk of epidemic malaria.
