The “Malaria Zambezi River Expedition” premieres on 7/18 at 8pm with repeat airings on 7/22 at 9pm; 7/26 at 10pm; and 7/30 at 9pm. In March 2008, the expedition set off on a 2 month journey down the Zambezi River to spread global awareness of malaria and mobilize donor support for effective protection and treatment
Watch as their boats stop off on Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique to take on board local malaria control staff and journalists for a tour of remote river communities exposed daily to life-threatening malaria parasites. Malaria, a preventable and treatable disease, kills more than a million people worldwide each year—90 percent of them in Africa; 70 percent children under the age of five.
